ReplyDelete2. It is comparable to how when they first used a steam engine to mine oil, everyone started trying to get oil. People today might use fracking to get the last little bit of oil remaining on this planet. We need to come up with more eco-friendly ways to power our stuff.
1. I don't know, it would not be so controversial if it was definitely know if it was safe or not.
ReplyDelete2. Fracking is similar to using steam engines to drill for oil in chapter 14.1. They both were a new ways to gather resources and were very profitable.
1. To an extent it is because in the article it says that some of those gases can escape and contaminate the groundwater. Despite the minor earthquakes and environmental costs, that is the only thing that can creat danger.
ReplyDelete2. The Bessemer process mentioned in Chapter 14.1 is sort of similar to Fracking but the Bessemer process didn’t really cause any trouble. It enabled us to create a stronger a metal that became known as steel and we still use it to this day.
