Globalization has created hunger in developing nations because the growing population in the world today has mad the need for food go up also. The poor Developed nations can't always get all the food they need to survive in a healthy way.

The worlds desire for biofuel has increased malnutrition because when more developed nations take food from the nations who really need it to survive, it causes them to go hungry.

  2. 1) The actions of one country can affect the people of other developing countries. Many developing countries rely on agriculture for income. Most of the crops are sold off to foreign countries leaving the developing countries with a food shortage.
    2) There isn't enough food to go around and so many people are starving.
    3) I think the biofuel laws should be adjusted. While biofuel and finding renewable energy sources are important, other people shouldn't have to suffer so we can feel better about ourselves (about how ecofriendly we are).

  3. 1)What we as Americans do not realize is that we do not get a lot of our food or food sources from America. These problems affect the smaller countries more than we could imagine. They have relied on corn all their life and now it is being taken away from them.
2)The American's need for bio fuel increased the cost in tortillas which then put restraints on the amount of food the people of Guatemala could buy.
3)The way the US is now, they work as the "world mediator" which in the past is not how the US made their name. We are now using our force once again by taking what we want. Now I do not believe that we should completely drain a country like we are doing now, so I think that these laws should be adjusted as seen fit.

  5. 1. Globalization has resulted in increasing food prices and a shortage in food products due to biofuel.
    2. There is farming in rural areas because of the lack of land and the amount of money spent on food.
    3. Biofuel should be limited to avoid lowering income and decrase the malnutrition numbers.

    1. Globalization has affected hunger and poverty in developing nations by the prices of different goods increasing due to the amount of people buying the food and the amount of production of goods while in less populated areas the production is very little. Also I believe the number of people in a country has a direct correlation with the amount that a product is produced.
    2. It has increased chronic malnutrition because with the growth in bio-fuels the prices of foods have also increased and the want for food is also higher and due to this people would eat what they would want instead of eating healthier like farming and growing your own food.
    3. I think that the laws should be adjusted because in the USA people are struggling to get the things that they need and can sometimes abuse there power over other countries.

    1. It has caused a thirst for fuel that has hurt many developing nations.
    2. It has decreased the amount of land that can be used for food production therefore reducing the global food supply.

    1. Corn is not the answer to bio-fuels because it takes more energy to produce then to provide. I think any alternative fuel source will have negative effects on any group of people. I also believe that people will die of hunger as a result of nature trying to curb population growth.

    1. it has created hunger and poverty because natural disasters, and drouts and other have wiped out peoples homes and food sources that people got there food and it has caused them to become hungry and homeless because there homes have been wiped out as well.

    2. the increasing use of bio fuel in cars have had far-flung ripple effects, economists say, as land once devoted to growing food for humans.

    3. I like the articles ideas because it explains how we can survive though out global warning and how we can grow food and how farming is the biggest idea or way to get food during global warming. I thought this article had great ideas to how humans can get food during global warming around the world

  10. 1. one selfish country can affect the market of another country, and even cause people to starve.
    2. the new bio-fuel has created problems for countries that rely on low prices for a certain component of the bio-fuel.
    3. I think that this article makes sense and that we should be more careful about not only us but other countries that can be affected by us.

  11. As countries grow, the need for development and food are increasing, which mostly causes poverty and the more people there are the less food or other basic needs are fulfilled.

It has decreased the amount of land that can be used and that increases the price of food which causes more malnutrition.

I think the article had really good ideas and that the bio-fuel laws should be adjusted.

  12. 1)Hunger and Poverty have come out of the need for bio-fuel by other countries. They are robbing developing nations of their food which can be used for fuel.
2)The expansion of the bio-fuels industry has contributed to spikes in food prices and a shortage of land for food
    3) This article is very informative and showed me that a lot of people don't have enough to eat. It's ideas helped me realize that not only are we not helping the people that are threatened by hunger, but we are actually harming them.

  13. 1) Globalization has created hunger and poverty because of the growing population is part of globalization as well as bio fuels. This is taking away from smaller countries therefore creating hunger and poverty.
    2) The more bio fuels we use the less food smaller countries get because when we take bio fuels the smaller countries food prices go up and then less people can pay for food which leads to starvation.
    3) I liked this article and i think it is very important to state your opinion because if you don't then no one would know how anyone felt.

  14. 1) because of globalization, and the use of bio-fuels, developing countries are selling their corn crops, that originally were used as food for the people, to developed countries. Because the food is becoming less used for food, people go hungry. And because the food is costing more and more, people don't have enough to pay and live in poverty.
2)The developed world buys all the countries like Guatamala's food crops for biofuels. Without their main source of food, the people in those countries go hungry and become chronically malnutritioned.
3)I think we need to stop relying on the crops of developing countries, or make sure that if we do rely on them, that the citizen living there have enough nutrition and food to get by.

    1. Globalization and the demand for bio-fuels are causing major farming countries, such as Guatemala, to live in poverty. The demand is so high that the corn and food is being used less for the Guatemalans and more for america and larger countries who need a large supply of bio-fuels. This high demand causes a shortage of crops and higher priced food for these countries which cause them to live in poverty.
    2. Since there is such a high need for bio-fuels its not allowing the countries who make the crops (corn, etc.) to keep a lot of the farming land to grow there own food, because its all being exported by large companies. Which this is causing a food shortage in these small countries.
    3. The worlds demand for bio-fuels is causing malnutrition and hunger in other countries. Even though we need a lot of fuel for transportation we do not need it at the expense of people going hungry. Our countries demand for bio-fuels is one of the many causes for malnutrition and we are making other countries starve to death, which I think is horrible.

How has Globalization created hunger and poverty in developing nations?
    - It has created hunger and poverty because expanding a bunch of people to everything in the world has left out the smaller countries, they are constantly overlooked and they are the places where it really matters.

How has the developed world's desire for Biofuel increased chronic malnutrition?
-Because bio-fuels are natural and come from natural things on earth but the thing is like foods like corn are broken down to create methanol. And the harvesting of corn for fuels , are taking over the corn harvesting for foods. Because some countries grow just enough to feed themselves and not an export at all.

How do you feel about this article's ideas? - Its okay to state your opinion, BUT base it on facts?
    - I feel like we could still use the resources we have we just have to manage them better and learn to reimburse enough for export and for food.

  17. 1. According to globalization and the use of bio-fuels, it cause for some citizens in Guatemala to go dry in poverty; cause of dry crops will give them a dreadful starvation.

  19. How has Globalization created hunger and poverty in developing nations?
Time and money invested into globalization is taken away from helping nations in need so the nations not contributing to globalization are stranded.
How has the developed world's desire for Biofuel increased chronic malnutrition?
Potential adequate nutrition is taken away when used for biofuel and not for humans, putting lives at risk.
How do you feel about this article's ideas? - Its okay to state your opinion, BUT base it on facts?
It was okay, just choppy and sporadic.

  20. How has Globalization created hunger and poverty in developing nations?
The expansion of biofuel plants has created a shortage of land in poor countries because that is where land is the cheapest. Which is displacing many native people and taking away from their food supply. Biofuel plants have also caused a spike in food prices.
How has the developed world's desire for Biofuel increased chronic malnutrition?
Because industries are taking away people's main sources of food for biofuel.
How do you feel about this article's ideas?
I feel as if it gives accurate facts and is letting people know what is going on in foreign countries. Big companies are focused on greed and trying to make good business deals.

  21. 1. the use and growth of biofeuls are creating a large shortage of corn production in poorer countries. Corn prices have gone up because of these shortages. People can't afford the food and don't have land to farm on.
    2. Because of the lack of food and money within the families in places like Guatemala, parents can't feed themselves or theyre children. This is causing chronic malnutrition.
    3. I think it opens our eyes to how even "simple" things like corn production, can have a devastating effect on people in smaller areas of the world.

  22. Because the worlds population is steady growing and there isnt a large abundance of food.
The main sources of biofuel is being taking away slowly.
I think this article is going to change somebodys mind about how they see the other countries poverty and make them want to help

  24. 1. Biofeuls have caused a shortage of production in the corn industry in lesser developed countries, causing products made of corn to sky rocket.
    2. It has increased malnutrition because the population is steadily growing and always will and in turn, that means more demand for products and we don't have enough to keep every one well nourished.

  25. 1. theres hunger and poverty in smaller countries now. Biofeuls made a shortage of corn production. Also smaller countries are overlooked
