Actors in Cuba escape film seek US asylum

What does it mean to ask for "asylum"?
Who should be allowed to ask?
If we let these Cuban's in - they are escaping a Communist regime - then shouldn't anyone from China be able to ask for asylum and receive it?
I think the concept of asylum is good, But it should not give automatic rights when someone gets asylum. It should be a green card to stay in the country. They can wait like every one else to get citizenship. I think we should let any one from any communist country come here for asylum.

I like the idea of an asylum. I don't think the people who come in the country should have automatic rights when they enter the country, just a way to stay in the country. I don't think we should let all the chinese in because then our country would turn crazy.

If someone truly feels as though they can have a better life in America and that they can better provide for their families, then they should be able to apply for asylum. On the other hand, if someone is trying to escape in order to do something bad then they shouldn't be able to. Asylum is basically asking for protection from a nation after they've fled their home country. We should let people who are trying to escape come to America as long as it's for the right reasons
ReplyDeleteTo ask for asylum is to ask for a place that will shelter them and not harm them. To be in an enviornment that isnt threatening or dangerous for being the way you are. It is a good think if people from ask for asylum. We "should" allow anyone seeking refuge from an oppressive regime to be granted asylum, but that isn't a fesible reality. It is just like immagrants moving to America to start a better life and get away from their old life. It is the morally right thing to do, but in actuallity, we can't afford to let everyone seeking asylum to get asylum. Our economy, society, and country in general can only hold so many people looking for a new life. There are far more people wanting those slots than are slots available.
